Miniaturka sekcji ABOUT

ABOUT

Tak Brzmi Miasto Conference is an event aimed at the new music industry, combining a rich content part with a showcase festival.

For more than ten years, it has particularly attracted artists who want to manage their own careers and music industry professionals: managers, producers, event and festival organisers, record company employees and music journalists.

Over the past ten editions, conference participants have had the opportunity to learn about the music business from almost 230 experts from 27 countries. We covered topics such as promotion, exporting music abroad, education, finances, people, cooperation in the broad sense or how to get to music festivals.

At the concerts accompanying the showcase part of the conference, more than 80 young, promising bands performed (including Hańba!, Patrick the Pan, Disperse, Cheap Tobacco, Kraków Street Band, Besides, Lor, Daria Ryczek-Zając), many of whom are currently in the line-up of the best Polish events.

Although Tak Brzmi Miasto features some of the biggest names in the national and global music industry, the strength of the event is its intimate nature and its adoption of the perspective of the emerging artist - framing the topics in a way that makes them understandable and practical for aspiring musicians. This fosters relationship building, a free exchange of experiences and results in long conversations that often move to one of Kraków's clubs where the conference showcase takes place.

You will hear the answers to these and dozens of other questions that bother you from nearly 40 experts who will share their knowledge and experience during 30 panel discussions, workshops and lectures.

In one-on-one conversations - during speed-meetings and one-on-one consultations - you will also sort out your issues with bookers, concert and festival organisers, managers, journalists.

With a LIVE theme, you can't miss live music either! You'll see 13 artists - those you might hear about in the media, but especially those you might hear about tomorrow!

Opening Panel - Live Music is NOT Dead

The pandemic has changed people's approach to live concerts. Festivals are somehow holding up, but attendance at concerts by small bands has dropped drastically. Is this the beginning of a trend that will make concerts events for a select few or the biggest enthusiasts? Who and how listens to live music? What impact does Netflix have on concerts? We will talk about all this with our guests during the opening panel!

Mind on tour. How to maintain emotional balance while on tour?

We usually think of concerts as fulfilling dreams and goals that we strive for, but it is also worth remembering the mental difficulties associated with them. And above all, it is worth knowing how to deal with these difficulties. During this workshop, you will learn the tools that will help you reduce the negative effects associated with being on stage.

"We roam between Poland and Scandinavia, playing at barn dance parties, funeral feasts and in the sacred groves. We stop at the taverns standing on the frozen Baltic Sea, creating music for villagers and townspeople alike, to dance to and to ponder over."

Daj Ognia band is based in Krakow, Poland, and their music is most often defined as 'dark folk' or 'alternative folk'. Their artistic creation is set in "a village that never was". Referring to an old myth of the Baltic Sea freezing over winter, they find inspiration in both Polish and Scandinavian musical traditions. With archaic instruments found in these lands, in their theatrical manner, the band interweaves the melodies of melancholic longing and frenetic trance-like dances. Daj Ognia's original compositions bring back the fiery raves of bygone days."

They write about themselves as a rock band and we respect that they describe themselves as such, although we hear some post-punk playing there ourselves. In 2023, they released the album ‘19:11’ on Scream Antenna, which was warmly received by critics and audiences alike, and we're not at all surprised, we've seen them live, so we know it's decent playing and their stage energy is the envy of many a dyed-in-the-wool fox.

Hai write about themselves rather laconically: ‘Lublin spaceport. Docked in Warsaw. Three-piece plus.’ Can you deduce from this what they play? On the surface it's just a rock trio, but don't let that fool you, because it's such multi-layered music that it's easy and enjoyable to listen to, but you can also break your legs deciphering the intricacies, both musically and textually. In 2020, they released ‘Call for Supervision’, which was voted one of the best Polish albums according to Beehype.com. They threaten that there will be a new one soon. We hold them to their word!

Zuta is, against all appearances, a duo - Zuta Lipowicz and Maks Mikulski. The combination of dance beats, ejtis synths and energising guitars and the stage energy takes control of the audience and triggers unrestrained hip movements. In their lyrics, Zuta collects emotions and stories that, like a chameleon, change their meaning depending on the mood of the listener. On 1 March, the duo gave listeners their debut EP ‘Wszystko ja. Everything us.’ to join the TIDAL Rising programme moments later. The band Zuta won this year's Moskity award from K-MAG magazine, received a nomination for Gazeta Wyborcza's Sanki poll, played at several summer festivals and are successively winning the hearts of listeners - it's a wonder that they made their stage debut just over six months ago.

In 2023, they dropped a conceptual album called “Now The Grass Grows Through My Skin,” which takes listeners on a journey through humanity’s history—from birth to a haunting fall into the vast unknown of the universe.
Their latest EP, “Śpiewnik na koniec czasów - edycja pierwsza,” marks a new chapter as Anchey sings in Polish for the first time, infusing the tracks with a special Slavic mystique. This modern Indie-Pop, rich with synth sounds and layered harmonies, grabs your attention right from the first listen.

The band’s discography includes DIY demo No Matter What You’re On EP (2021), debut album ‘Twas Fun (2023), and singles released this year under Wytwórnia Tematy: “czerwiec, sierpień, jesień” and “niewidzialne miasta”. Currently, they’re hitting the stage and working on new releases.

Born in 1990, but his songs feature synths and guitars older than himself. Bartek's music is sweet and mysterious ‘80s, alternative and guitar-driven ’90s, and a little bit of contemporary, so as not to be left behind. The artist sings about the good and how to mess it up. About what's bad and how not to fix it. He jokes that he gives only bad advice in his lyrics. For years, he has been constantly contributing to various bands as a guitarist, drummer and producer. He is currently touring promoting his debut album ‘jesteś niebem’, released on FONOBO Label.
